Born into a Christian family active in a local mission-minded church, the author decided at the age of seven that she wanted to become a missionary. It was forty years before her dream was fulfilled, but in hindsight, she sees that all of her experiences as a child, a teenager, a college student, a student nurse, an army nurse, a seminary student, and a participant in the Wycliffe Bible Translators Institute were really preparation she would need on the mission field. Surely, God’s hand was upon her the whole time.
