In 1961 when Air Vindhya operated regular cargo services known as Flying Sherpa, poet K. S. Venkateswaran was inspired to create lyrical verse that reflected the changing times as passengers embarked on flights that allowed them to travel from one end of the world to the other-and back again. Some fifty years later, Venkateswaran shares a three-part collection of poems that symbolize an ever-changing world, the beauty of nature, and the complexities of life. Venkateswaran’s first section of poetry highlights the incredible transitions that surrounded the beginning of passenger air travel in the early 1960s. From the wild animals that were first transported on Air Sherpa to Air Vindhya’s first Boeing 707 services that introduced air travel from India to Tokyo, Venkateswaran lightheartedly reflects on a time that forever changed the world. In his second and third sections, Venkateswaran shares a lyrical glimpse into the past and an atmosphere changed by nationalism and patriotism while offering an inspirational perspective on love, nature, and Indian culture and traditions. In this unique collection of verse, a poet lets his emotions guide his pen as he shares his lyrical reflections on life and the world around him.
