This volume contains the Proceedings of a Conference on Inter- disciplinary Investigation of the Brain held at Oxford, 11-13th, April 1972. The Congress was organised by the UK Liaison Committee for Sci- ences Allied to Medicine and Biology (SAMB). This organisation was set up in 1965 to promote the interdisciplinary approach to medical and biological problems. The present *Conference is the third to be held under the auspices of SAMB. It was planned to cover a wide range of interests by inviting workers from various disciplines to speak about their work in progress. It is hoped that the present volume will be of interest and will vindicate this multidisciplinary approach. SESSIONAL CHAIRMEN R. Cooper Burden Neurological Centre, Stapleton, Bristol, England E. S.
