The Birchbark Boat

Inspired by real-life birchbark boat craftsmanship, this enchanting story follows Grandpa Tuobu and his grandson Wuri on a memorable journey to the Greater Khingan Range. With a handmade birchbark boat and a small roe deer, they set out to explore their spiritual homeland and discover the legendary tales of the Oroqen people, known as " the last hunting tribe" in China's borderlands. Grandpa Tuobu, who made the birchbark boat himself, and Wuri, who dreams of exploring the forests and becoming one with nature, face an unexpected challenge when a fierce rainstorm floods the Huma River. Concerned about his faithful hunting dog and chestnut horse, Tuobu and Wuri quickly return home. Their adventure takes them by train, car, bike, and boat, drawing the curiosity and admiration of those they meet. Along the way, their journey is filled with joyful moments and touching connections.
