In the 1930s, a Chinese People's Volunteer Army brigade arrives at the revolutionary town of Longgang in central China. Inspired by the Red Army, a young farm boy, Liang Mancang, grows from a children's brigade member into a revered young soldier. Commander Shi personally hoists him onto a warhorse, guiding him toward the call of the revolution... After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Mancang joined the Chinese People's Volunteer Army, crossing the Yalu River to serve abroad.
