There are close to 900 separate annotated entries, including both the lyric and the non-lyric productions of the Old Occitan writers and their medieval and modern critics. The scope is literary rather than linguistic and the listings are primarily of critical material written since 1950, except where an earlier work is clearly of basic importance. It is both more complete and more up to date than other troubador or occitan bibliographies, many of which are in any case now unobtainable. It provides basic groundwork for students of Old Occitan and troubadour literature by collecting in one place information which is otherwise widely scattered. It will be of assistance to specialists in the field. It also makes accessible to scholars in related fields a subject which may be unfamiliar to them.
