Nevertheless, they endured the injustice of slavery and left a legacy of their struggle and lessons that provides day-to-day inspiration for all of us. Discovering the lives of the Butts, Bradleys, Walkers, Robinsons and Kenersons provides a greater understanding of the common struggle and triumphs of African American people in the American story in general and the Amite County Mississippi story specifically.
