Expectations from home run high for Lucky. All the extended family resources have been spent on his university education, with the hope that he will take over the family responsibilities when he gets a good job. But a good job in the People’s Republic is a pipe dream for graduates from many families like Lucky’s, who have nobody in government. He is outside the gold circle.
