The Crossover Teacher describes the integration of public school faculties. It involves white and black teachers who went into schools formerly of the opposite race (crossover teachers). Author Steve Stephens was a schoolteacher and principal during this tumultuous time in the South in the 1960s and ‘70s, when the federal courts forced integration. He personally experienced most of the events in this book. Particularly he wants America to see how difficult integration was for the black teacher.

About the Author

Steve Stephens is a retired educator: a classroom teacher, a principal, and Assistant State Superintendent of Education for the State of Louisiana. He also served as president of the Louisiana Teachers Association. He loves his church and plays the guitar at all church services. He loves his family deeply and tries to be a good husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He has published three other books: Anybody Love, God in Our Schools, about integration, and The Greatest Escape, a detailed story of Baby Jesus’ escape from Herod.
