This volume has been prepared in answer to many urgent requests from teachers and other workers. While there is abundant factual material available for nature teaching, there is a scarcity of illustrative material for bringing out the spiritual lessons which nature was originally designed to teach.
There is no attempt to make the subject matter exhaustive, for the obvious reason that nature is infinite in its scope, and no amount of study could ever exhaust its lessons. Since it is the expression of the thoughts of God, there will be an eternity of study before the nature student, and yet he will ever find new wonders to explore, new mysteries to solve.
In the preparation of this material the author has consulted many works of a technical nature, dealing with all phases of science and nature study; he has also drawn from the writings of several world-renowned authors, among whom are the names of Ellen G. White, Hugh Macmillan, Henry Drummond, Charles Spurgeon, and others.
