During one relatively short period in the course of universal events, the highest developed species residing on a once beautiful planet; that was blessed with an ideal climate and large oceans, evolved to a sophisticated level that enabled some inhabitants to artificially control their environment during the natural seasons on the planet. Regrettably, the methods deployed were unsustainable and the specie’s wanton disregard for their environment also caused premature depletion of their natural resources. The planet became highly polluted and overpopulated within a shamefully short galactic time span. The degraded environment in turn caused distrust between different governmental groups as well as increased tensions in many non-adjacent regions. Global food supplies were rapidly being depleted and safe drinking water was unavailable in most areas. It was obvious the planet would soon experience a global population collapse. One major country, in an attempt to enhance their position before and after the natural die-off event, clandestinely and globally dispersed a deadly viral agent in a manner normally witnessed during a natural flu pandemic. Unfortunately for them, there was an unexpected delay in the number of flu cases on their soil and this inadvertently led to a global confrontation. An alien civilization, conducting research and mining activities in a remote galactic area, detected the nuclear detonations and, because there was a remote chance the planet’s inhabitants might be related survivors separated by a galactic war eighty-four centuries earlier, sent teams to investigate. These alien travelers did not find any survivors upon arrival.
