The NAACP: A Celebration

Founded in 1909 in response to violence against African Americans, the NAACP is the nation’s oldest and largest civil rights organization. In the last century, it won landmark court cases, including Brown v. Board of Education, that demolished the legal basis for segregation. It advanced legislation in employment, housing, and voting, and helped change public sentiment on racial equality. This title presents the little-known story of the NAACP, its leaders, and its role in promoting civil rights.
