Lullharp Vol.1 is a collection of seven traditional lullabies transcribed and arranged for harp and voice. The lullabies in this volume come from Italy, Finland, Guatemala, Haiti, Congo, Nigeria and the Isle of Man. The arrangements are suitable for beginner to intermediate lever and pedal harpists. The vocal score presents the original lyrics, while English translations (literal and not intended for singing) are provided in a specific section at the end of the book, to convey meanings to non native speakers. This collection is part of a larger project, aimed at rediscovering the value and beauty of traditional lullabies from different cultures around the world. Since communicative musicality is one of the first manifestations of intersubjectivity within the mother-child dyad, lullabies may have a potential in creating caring relationships with the listeners. The voice and the harp, due to their innate and symbolic power, are the privileged carriers for these intents. Hence the name of the project: Lullharp. Traditional lullabies are the expression of mothers' emotions, hopes and fears. The author honored the authenticity and complexity of their conflicting feelings, by including in the collection songs that reflect different moods and characters. May these lullabies be a source of inspiration, new repertoire and joy, accompanying you in discovering the inner gifts of music and compassion.
