Fondendo drammaticita, spunti critici, satira e avventura, Dickens costruisce una trama ricca di fascino, con personaggi psicologicamente intensi e con ambientazioni ricche di particolari di quell'epoca ricca di contrasti che fu l'eta vittoriana.
