Never man spake like this man (re. John 7:46). The authority to speak in the name of Jesus Christ is given to them whom, by suffering association and self-denial, have taken up their cross and followed him, not straight to heaven but to Gethsemane, Pilate’s Hall, and then Calvary. This is authority to have place in Christ and to speak out of that place for Christ. Mainstream Christianity has no viable witness of Jesus Christ because they do not live for Jesus Christ; they live for themselves. Christians talk about everything but Christ.
