FERGUS is a young spirit who is preparing under the wise guide Abraham, so that he can help other children find the special gifts they already possess and show those who have still yet to remember that life really can be beautiful. Meanwhile, Kate is growing up an only child, with parents who are very busy. Even so, she has a free spirit; she daydreams and begins to learn important lessons from Nanna Teddy, her grandmother. As she gets older, her parents separate, and eventually she moves to Scotland with her boyfriend. In Scotland, she becomes ill and struggles with her life.
