Returning to the type of work he truly enjoys, his family’s lives settle into an almost idyllic state. Peggy suffers a health problem that again weakens Bob’s trust in God, but Peggy’s faith and help from her friends restore his beliefs. It is his first exposure to vile bigotry that causes Bob to question keeping the family in Kentucky, but the last words of a loved one convinces Bob he has much to offer a community wherever that may be.
