This work of fiction, while drawing on some of the author’s personal experiences, traces an attempt to identify the events that lay behind a mysterious presence in a derelict farmhouse in Malta. Cultural traditions from a bygone era colour the lives of two unusually literate village women, mother and daughter, who militate against the religious and social constrictions of the times.
