G-String fairy tales of the Cordillerans is rather a unique book. How did a G-String (a woven colorful unique fashion) special group of people in the northernmost area of the Philippines came to introduce fairy tales as a tool for children: to develop their linguistic and language skills while maintening fun and interactive learning environment? The Cordilleran forefathers, who arrived by land bridges 30,000 years ago, developed and used these folktales to teach their children life’s family values- some of which are expounded by self-improvement gurus in their lectures. When formal schooling was introduced during the American occupation of the Philippines in the 1930’s, these same fairy tales were used to teach the children reading skills and the English language. Another lofty purpose of this book is the encouragement of diverse “non-western” cultural groups in the Western world to share their respective fairy tales/folktales as means of supporting the examination and understanding of cultures other than one’s own.; explain to other children of this world the existence of imaginative wonders that do not have scientific explanation; and, teach life’s lessons that there are circumstances and conditions that do not have any explanaton yet exist!. Furthermore, this is a HUMANE PROJECT. Royalties (after administrative expenses) procured from the sales of this book will assist with the educational needs of children of disabled veterans including other children.
