Ponzio Pilato si ritrovo a dovere gestire un caso difficilissimo, paradossale, come il caso GesA'. Pilato, che aveva sulla coscienza interminabili elenchi d'innocenti, mette in mostra tutta la sua ipocrisia per non inimicarsi il Sinedrio, o coloro che volevano morto il Nazareno. Un morto in piA', o un morto in meno, non cambiava certo i termini della tragica questione, ne appesantiva di molto la sua coscienza di tiranno! L'unica sua delusione fu determinata dal fatto che, probabilmente, avrebbe preferito vedere crocifiggere Barabba, nemico pericoloso dei romani, piuttosto di quell'indifeso predicatore.
