About the Illustrator: Jessie Willcox Smith (1863-1935) was one of America’s leading illustrators and epitomised the home life of the late-Victorian period. Early on in her career, she was compared to Kate Greenaway and her charming drawings depict a world of happy families and heartfelt emotion although she herself never married or had children. She illustrated over 200 covers of Good Housekeeping as well as a multitude of children’s books.
