It is 1897 and a newly married couple, Sara and Philippe Lemieux, are determined to make their Napa vineyard into a world-renowned operation. But with the new century arrives the threat of a dangerous blight on their grape vines and talk of looming prohibition. Closer to home, fiercely independent Sara is having a difficult adjustment to the role of wife and mother.

An invitation to the World’s Fair seems to rejuvenate both the business and Sara and Philippe’s marriage, but a secret from Philippe’s past and Sara’s passion for the cause of women’s rights may derail all that they have worked for.

Fate has other plans in store for the Lemieuxes in the spring of 1906, when a massive earthquake rocks northern California and brings a challenge unlike any other they have faced. Will the unstoppable events overwhelm Sara and Philippe’s future, despite their love for each other?
