The first part of this story is about a boy who lived through the depression, and who handled life in his own unique way. The story starts out at age five. He lived through some serious situations and some very funny ones. The last part of the book records his military service beginning at age nineteen. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge as a machine gunner, and was in the thick of the battles that occured at the end of World War Two. Again, he lived this part of his life with the same ingenuity, determination, and spirit of survival that sustained him in his Early Years. He managed to figure things out for himself, and have some fun along the way.
