Mattie Pumpken is a story for all readers who know the physical and social suffering of being fat. Mattie has the cure for obesity locked in her savant brain. In this third story of An Angel’s Tale she will attend a privately funded college that allows her to perfect her work. Tycom, a pharacuetical company headed by Brimmer Wisemont, is funding such a bold and ambitious project. Brimmer has sold his soul to the devil for an attempt at revenge, great wealth, and one hundred years of life to enjoy his money. His company’s goals are to eliminate world obesity and hunger. Alex attends the same school as Mattie, is expecting her to arrival, and likes her immediately. Brimmer’s deal places Mattie, Alex, and four other students directly in the path of evil. Despite Mattie’s repeated temptation to succumb to her vanity and use her formula herself, her friends are guided by their angels to help her. Satan himself is trying to corrupt Mattie, hoping she holds the key to making the world a homogenous society of thin people, denuding God’s divine plan for human uniqueness. All of Mattie’s friends will eventually face the same temptations and battles Mattie has endured, learning how easy it is to believe what your vanity, shame, fear, and self-esteem tell you to believe.
