John Galsworthy won a Nobel Prize in literature in 1932. He is best known for writing the Forsyte Saga. Galsworthy campaigned for various social causes in his writing, including prison reform, censorship issues, women’s rights, and the rights of animals. Galsworthy became known for his portrayal of the British upper middle class and for his social satire. His plays often took up specific social grievances such as the double standard of justice as applied to the upper and lower classes. A Bit O’ Love, a play in three acts, was first published in 1894.
