In order to win her love, Endymion seeks the help of the witch, Tellus, who gives him a potion that will make Cynthia fall in love with him. However, the potion also causes Endymion to fall into a deep sleep, and he is taken to the moon by Cynthia. While on the moon, Endymion meets various characters, including the goddess of love, Venus, and the god of sleep, Morpheus.
