The Works of Thomas Otway, Volume 1 is a collection of plays written by the English playwright Thomas Otway. The volume includes four plays: Alcibiades, Don Carlos, Prince of Spain, Titus and Berenice, and The Cheats of Scapin. These plays were originally written in the late 17th century and are considered some of Otway's most important works. Alcibiades is a tragedy based on the life of the Athenian general Alcibiades, while Don Carlos, Prince of Spain is a historical drama about the Spanish royal family. Titus and Berenice is a tragic love story set in ancient Rome, and The Cheats of Scapin is a comedy about a cunning servant who helps two young men win the hearts of their lovers. This edition of the works was published in 1768 and includes a preface by the editor.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
