In 2009 without any ceremony Frankfort achieved 175 years of rail service. In 2010 the fact that a railroad track runs through the center of Broadway in downtown Frankfort is accepted as a fact of life. The importance the railroad once had in Frankfort's day to day life and insuring that the city remained the site of the state capital is all but forgotten. This book will try to bring to the attention of the reader how the railroad and local trolley lines influenced the development of Frankfort.
