Miss Jane Porter (1776-1850) was an English romantic novelist of Irish descent who co-wrote many works with her sister, Anna Maria Porter. Thaddeus of Warsaw was called a beautiful, moral, and affecting romance by Atkinson’s Casket of Gems, Wit and Sentiment (1831) in its portrait of Miss Porter.
