While working as a Nursery assistant a child sadly lost his father in a tragic car accident on Christmas eve. The child was only two years old, after searching the shops we could not find a book that came down to the level of understanding of a two year old to help him grieve and cope with such a loss. After discussing this in the staff room we thought we should write our own book. I was given the challenge, so after a few ideas put down between us I proceeded to create Special Treasure. As the story is read Special Treasure helps a child talk about their loss, in their own way. The attached work book enables them to keep their own Special Treasure. The story was inspired by my own pets Cheeko an Amazon parrot, and Star my Border collie, and their playful antics.
