Harry was abused by his father which accounted for his strange and bad behaviour. However, when his school was bombed, Harry was changed and made a vow to become a doctor. The family’s own little boy died of consumption which devastated the family. Eventually, however the family were able to overcome their grief and adopt the children they cared for during the war.
