Looking On from the Outside: Sister to Sister is a compilation of powerfully poignant poetry about the emotional roller coaster experienced by myself and other family members as we watched our sister deal with breast cancer. At the time she was diagnosed she was only 34 years young. The poems in this book capture elements of emotions experienced by us all from pain, despair, hurt, resentment, anger, relief, hope, strength and perseverance. Therefore, by using the pain experienced by everyone throughout this period I used this as a stepping stone to produce this beautiful little book of poetry which I hope encapsulates some of the emotions felt by many of you who have experienced the same pain of seeing a loved one suffer from cancer. Yet more importantly, this book is dedicated to my sister, a wonderful human being who has supported me on many occasions throughout my life’s journey and who I hope through this book will realise how much myself, my younger sister, our mother and her nephews value and care about her. I would also like to dedicated this book to my good friend Alyson, who too suffered from breast cancer and who I hope will find some strength from the material in this book. On a closing note, therefore, I do hope that the poems in this book will serve to touch the heart and spirit of someone out there. We all deal with circumstances differently, but I hope and pray that through the words in this book someone will be comforted by them, someone may feel to put pen to paper themselves, others may just want to sit quietly and reflect. Whatever it is you receive from this book, know that it is sent with love from me to you.
