All Doyle O'Quinn ever wanted to do was bet the horses, dance with the Fitzgerald twins at Tuffy’s Pub, and have a pint or two. This would be fine if he were mortal, but he isn’t. After centuries of feuding with his ancient adversary, Cyrus Muir and the evil Pooka, Doyle flees from Ireland and heads to Manhattan to live as a mortal. In America he meets up with Mario Gambardella, a local wise guy and his four henchmen who like him, are gamblers. They however, are determined to steal Doyle’s ancient coins and do away with him, but Doyle convinces Mario to join him in a scheme that will make Mario wealthier than he ever dreamed…If they survive the evil that lies ahead. On all Hallow’s Eve, Doyle, Mario and his men return to Ireland to seek out Cyrus Muir. Cyrus in the meantime is plotting to snag Doyle and put him away forever. If he succeeds in doing this, the future of Ireland is doomed. With the aid of the parish priest, Father Halligan, a local teenager, Seamus Flynn, and an old fisherman, Selby Sloan, Doyle devises what he hopes is a foolproof plan, but he fails to reveal a secret to Mario and the others-a secret that can destroy them all.
