Greek Lexicon of the Roman and Byzantine Periods from B.C. 146 to A.D. 1100 Part One
E. A. Sophocles
- Part one of two, this work, laid out in a two-column format, includes a list of authors referred to and an introduction covering the Ionic and Attic dialects, the periods of the Greek language, foreign elements in the language, and grammatical notes. The lexical detail is full and accurate, providing useful background material for the study of the New Testament. Of most value is Sophocle’s Introduction, in which he gives a nice linguistic survey of the language and discusses the many influences other languages had upon this period.
