This is the story of my life, up to the age of 23. It is not written with a view to sales, but I hope it will be of interest to my posterity in a hundred year’s time. The inspiration for the book is partly a series of twelve novels, collectively know as Dance to the Music of Time, by Anthony Powell, which drew heavily on Powell’s own life. This is the first part of my dance to the music of time, and there will a further part to it, though this is no novel.
