It wasn't much of a case. Chandler didn't like the people who'd hired him, or the job that they wanted him to do. The smutty poison-pen letters looked like penny-ante harassment of the doctors and executives in a country-club hospital, and they probably deserved it. It didn't even smell like blackmail at first. But something in the letters - or about them - led a nice kid to commit suicide. And attracted the interest of a hot-shot enforcer who had no business on the rich side of the river. With a guilty conscience looking over his shoulder and a punk with a magnum on his tail, Chandler makes the only choice he can live with - if he ever wants to look anyone in the eye again. CODE BLUE - in the spirit of Raymond Chandler and John D. MacDonald.
