John Adams

John Adams was an early champion of independence on behalf of the British colonies in America, a delegate to the First and Second Continental Congresses, a U.S. ambassador to France and, later, to England, the author of the Massachusetts State Constitution, the vice president of the United States during George Washington’s two terms as president, and the second president of the United States. Throughout his political career and into his long retirement, Adams was a powerful and popular essayist and thinker.
