Martine Beswicke was born in Jamaica as Mary Rose Penso Beswick. From a very early age, it was her dream to be an actress. She moved to London in her early teens to begin a career in modelling. During the swinging sixties, Martine - a wild child from an early age - indulged in all that the city offered and various encounters helped her acting career to slowly take shape. In 1963, she was cast as the fighting gypsy girl in the James Bond film, From Russia with Love. Terence Young, the director, became her champion and in 1965 insisted she be cast as the island girl Paula, in Thunderball. This led to the career that she dreamed of. Hammer came calling to cast her in One Million Years BC, where she met and fell in love with the leading man, John Richardson.
