Faunistics

R C Thomas

In Faunistics, R.C. Thomas utilises the short poetic form of haiku to take the reader on an around-the-world trip, from one continent to the next, spotting a vast-ranging array of wildlife. From the lemmings and lace web spiders of Europe, right through to the gentoo penguins and humpback whales of Antarctica, in Faunistics you'll find creatures great and small, creatures that are familiar, as well as those not so well documented, creatures that have just arrived and some that left a long time ago. Each page of this book features bespoke black and white illustrations, with seven additional full-page colour montages placed throughout in R.C. Thomas' unique and eccentric style, inviting the reader to spot all of the wildlife they've just read about.

Faunistics also features the award winning haiku 'silver lining-' (First Place, Sharpening the Green Pencil Haiku Contest 2022; shortlisted for the Haiku Society of America's Touchstone Awards for Best Individual Poems 2022), as well as 'calling it a day', a 'Selected Haiku Submission' in the 13th Yamadera Basho Memorial Museum English Haiku Contest.
