Suddenly, in front of my eyes, I saw poor little Walt plucked off the ground by his knapsack and disappear into the black mass of crows above. I was obviously too heavy but had a nasty time fighting my way to the big willow tree, I stumbled under its welcoming branches and lay there gasping for air.
