The Pocket 1582 Rheims New Testament is taken from the Original and True Douay Rheims Bible of 1610, transliterated into modern Latin type by Dr. William G. von Peters. This is not a Challoner translation, so often falsely sold as the Douay Rheims, but the REAL Douay Rheims. Nor is it the modernist Knox translation. It has been transliterated from its original 1582 Old English script into our modern English Latin script, with word spellings updated without any changes in words or syntax. The REAL Douay Rheims Bible is the original and true rendition of the Latin Vulgate of St. Jerome circa A.D. 400 from the earliest manuscripts extant into English by the English divines at Rheims and Douay without accretions, deletions, or political correctness. As such, it is the true Word of God.
