This book is a compilation of data originally published in Germanic Genealogist between 1978 and 1996 in fifteen parts spread over eleven issues. Despite the promise to continue that ended the last installment, no further articles were published, and the Society has lost contact with the author. These parts were organized by province and year of departure. The editor has reformatted this data into a single alphabetical list. The provinces covered are Lower Hesse, Upper Hesse, and Hanau. The dates covered are 1832-45 for Lower Hesse, 1832-34 for Upper Hesse, and 1832-33 for Hanau. It's presumed the missing parts would have covered Upper Hesse and Hanau through 1845, and perhaps other provinces thereafter. This book chronicles the emigration of 1766 families, including 1750 men, 1079 women, and 3039 children, carrying at least 332,000 Talers and 11,000 Guilders.
