Well, yes, and no. But he’s a real gentleman, mind.
All right, dear, the bedroom will bc what it always is–fit for a duke. But who is this great gentleman?
It’s our Jack, said William. You’ve heard how famously Jack’s been getting on since he became a teetotaller. But, better than that, he’s been getting on in a higher sense since he became a Christian. Now we can all truly say, Our Jack’s A Gentleman.

S, a good, earnest layman in Sunderland, is in the habit, as too few laymen are, of seeking out ways in which he may glorify God in rescuing immortal souls from paths of ruin, and keeping in the good old narrow way those that have been rescued. He does not think that ministerial work should be altogether confined to ministers. And in the seaport town in which he lives and works, there is, as in all such places, an abundance of what may be called missionary raw material on which to expend any amount of prayerful labour. Among the spiritual employments which he undertakes is that of assisting on Sunday evenings in a Mission Room service held in the northern part of the town, Monkwearmouth. Week after weak the services go on, and sometimes without much apparent result. But the clergy and their helpers, including the layman before mentioned, have faith that, if true work be done, in dependence upon God, there will be good…
