Lew was born in 1922 in the small village of Moon Pond not far from the city of what was then known as Canton Here is a profile of fortitude, faith, determination and optimism. From his humble beginnings - doing back- breaking work in the mosquito and leech-laden rice fields at the age of 8 in order to provide food for the family - to the present day. Hong Way, later called Harry W. Lew, invites us to share his lifelong experiences - humorous, yet poignant and compelling. He came to the U.S. at the age of 15 as a "Paper Son". He served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He was naturalized for citizenship under the provisions of the U.S. Amnesty Act and went on to carve out a sccessful and fulfilling life for himself. Harry W. Lew is an inspiration to young and old alike. He propounds to his philosophy, "Don't ever stop living", in the Addendum to the book. Take this journey with him.
