After accidentally becoming a Navy officer and later working as an petroleum engineer and economics adviser, raised and exhibited show dogs at the Westminster in New York. Survived a 56-year marriage based on a mistake, learned by experience how not to be a parent, and then found happiness at age 80 with a younger woman.
