This book on Foundation of Education and its Application to Nursing Education and Practice serves as a framework for students to learn about nursing education and provide nursing education to patients, their families, fellow staff nurses, and nursing students. The book consists of fourteen (14) chapters divided into three units. These chapters would set the foundation for learning about nursing education and apply the same in practice. This chapter is intended to be a primary resource for graduate students for whom the role of an educator is an essential component of practice. It is designed to help them become proficient in educating others, considering the basic foundations of the education process, the needs and characteristics of the learner, and the appropriate instructional techniques and strategies for teaching and learning. These will be discussed in the succeeding pages. I aim to be your partner in learning more about nursing education. At the end of this course, you are expected to be able to demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively using oral, written, and information technology for professional delivery of nursing care, properly evaluate the health needs of diverse populations for necessary teaching based on nursing knowledge to promote health and prevent illness and injury, and finally, exhibit an ongoing commitment to professional development and value of nursing theories/ethical principles in accordance with ethically responsible, legally accountable, specialist nursing practice. Although it is difficult to cover everything in this new format, we will do everything humanely possible for you to get the most out of this experience as a student. However, a partnership is both ways. While I will do my best and do everything I can, I would also expect the same from you. With our combined efforts, I am sure that the process of learning will remain unhampered and even enhanced.
