Developed under the guise of eliminating the need for capital punishment and lowering prison costs, the Inferno program utilizes a virtual reality headset to fire electrical impulses toward specific areas of a convict's brain in order to distort their perception of time. This phenomenon makes it possible for criminals to believe they've been inside for days or even centuries, even though they might only be wearing the headset for a few hours. Scott Peretti is one such criminal, and after his release he becomes frequently haunted by vivid and disturbing hallucinations, a symptom attributed to PTSD caused by the "prolonged" amount of time inside of the virtual prison. His wife won't talk to him, and his son seems to know something but is too afraid to say it. As Scott's parole under house arrest continues and his state of mind further deteriorates, the questions fill his mind: are the visions somehow real, or is someone leading him on in their own twisted game?
