Bec Everage doesn't have much time left, and it is her wish to set things straight before she dies; to bury all the snakes she has dug up over the years. She embarks with the reader on a journey of reminiscence which takes her from Texas to Arkansas, culminating with a badly-timed TV appearance live from her own bedroom. Meanwhile, a close but estranged family member is facing her own demons. Soon, the two will meet for the first time in a decade. Along with Bec's sister and local friend of the family, Roselle, they embark on a final trip to the Gulf Coast.
