Set during the Great War, Bob Danby, home from the front line, is posted back to England in order to train as an air gunner with the Royal Flying Corps. He meets and falls in love with a beautiful young widow, Emma Cummins. Their turbulent affair struggles to survive misunderstandings, jealousy and the terrible perils that Bob has to face.
