With a very well-regarded and- highly-rated season of live BBC TV police drama behind them in early 1962, producer David Rose and story editor John Hopkins consolidated their success with a second run of the series in 1962-1963. All the original cast were initially back, although Jeremy Kemp and Dorothy White would depart the show mid-run and, tragically, Leonard Williams unexpectedly died three months into the season. New actors would also be introduced who would stay with the show for some time - Colin Welland, Robert Keegan and Michael Forrest - as others fell by the wayside before the second run was complete, including James Cossins and Leonard Rossiter. This book tells how and why they came and went. This book series recounts the on and off-screen story of Z Cars with many of those involved: actors, writers, directors and the producer. Telling for the first time the previously untold history of the series.
